We are looking for new writers and editors to carry out the mission of our 63-year old nonprofit nutrition education foundation. Are you knowledgeable about traditional diets, holistic approaches to nutrition, alternative medicine, and healthy lifestyles? Are you an experienced writer, content developer and strategist, and interested in teaching the public about health and nutrition? If so, we may have a position for you. The Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation (ppnf.org) is seeking digital writers to write about a variety of topics revolving around healthy lifestyle as seen through the lens of traditional diets (similar to Primal and Paleo diets, but not copies of these diets.) Price-Pottenger has recently been rebranded and aims to educate the public about all aspects of a healthy lifestyle. Our new brand leads with traditional diets but includes all aspects of a healthy lifestyle including environment (stress, air, allergies at work and in the home, etc.) vaccines, homeopathy, supplements, treating inflammation, herbs, mental health, autoimmune disorders, water quality, and more. This is a part-time, contract position that allows for working remotely. There are multiple openings for this position. No phone calls will be accepted about this position. Apply via link provided. Qualifications * Experienced in writing and content and copy editing. Prior experience producing content for a website or digital property a plus. * Must have some knowledge of traditional diet principles (this can include Primal and Paleo diet principles). Familiarity with the principles and works of Dr. Weston A. Price, DDS, and Dr. Francis M. Pottenger, Jr. MD, a plus. * Experience working with content management systems (CMS). * Ability to write with a friendly, active, energetic, engaging, and, at times, attention-grabbing tone, is a must. Writing experience that combines familiarity with authority is a plus. * Ability to write purposeful, powerful, succinct, fact-filled content is a must. Preference given to those writers with lifestyle-writing experience. * Ability to properly reference studies and other sources is a must. Ability to incorporate references into writing to back up facts is required. * Experience with Chicago Manual of Style and AMA Manual of Style is a plus. * Some knowledge of, or experience with, content strategy is a plus. * Some knowledge or experience of copywriting a plus. * Knowledge of key-word embedded titles and subtitles a must. Ability to work in SEO-required key words, while maintaining tone and writing for target audience, is a plus. * Experience with Microsoft 365, Sharepoint, and Google docs is a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word. Proficiency in PowerPoint is a plus. * Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications or related field a plus but not required. Responsibilities * Produce and write approximately 800-word blog articles consistent with the new Price-Pottenger healthy lifestyle brand, written for a target audience of Generation X (30-60-years old, and interested in traditional diet, health and nutrition.) Blogs will be featured on an upcoming website. * Produce content that gives clear take-aways to readers, is factually accurate, concise, well-suited to a digital environment, and incorporates Price-Pottenger’s key word and content strategy. * Identify and use proper references (studies, books, instructors, professionals, etc.) Work these references into blog articles and web content to give authority and credence to the facts and claims you are writing about. * Repurpose older Price-Pottenger content into new, fresh, digital content. * Source photos for blog articles and other digital content. * Create content suitable for sharing on social media, or featuring in a video course. * May be asked to write rebuttals to breaking health and nutrition news stories. * Report to Executive Director, Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief or Director of Marketing as needed.
