That means writing about tech, startups and IT. You’ll also do client interviews. Our clients come from all sorts of backgrounds, walks of life and industries. We have an editorial calendar, editorial process and deadlines you must hit. There are two things you need to focus on: writing well (duh) and setting the post up to perform well on social media. We call that distribution and promotion. There are lots of ways you can do that. For example it may mean getting a quote from a thought leader so they’ll share the piece when it’s release. We offer bonuses when one of your pieces performs well on distribution. We have a full content writer playbook, client interview playbook and distribution playbook so you know what you need to do. You don’t need to worry about uploading to WordPress -- we have a dedicated person who will do that for you. Once you’ve established yourself we can discuss giving you a byline. Our goal is to be the best media companies in the world for our space. That’s why we pay well and give our writers the tools and support they need to succeed. That’s why we offer incentives when you write often for us and when your pieces perform well. For example: you don’t need to upload your pieces to WordPress -- we have someone dedicated to doing that for you. We work off of Google docs. That also means we expect our writers to be extremely thoughtful, proactive and to have very strong soft skills. We believe writing is objectively good or bad. We know our voice and we expect you to pick it up quickly. Unfortunately we don’t have the bandwidth to give a lot of feedback and support if you aren’t on the right track to begin with. That means we’ll expect you to hit the ground running. We’re looking for sharp people who can hit the ground running. Responsibilities Read and observe the documentation about how we create content at Gigster. Deeply research whatever topic you’re writing about. Collect data, conduct interviews and take the time the piece requires to be great. Independently find and setup interviews with sources that are relevant to the piece at hand and that will improve the reach and distribution of the piece. Back up claims and statements with citations to data and expert opinions. Sourcing images -- find images we have the rights to use that fit our requirements. We also have a stock photo account so you can source images from there. Be conscientious and proactive to do all the little things that make the editorial process run smoothly. An ideal candidate Highly responsive and communicative. Proactive in solving problems, removing blockers and finding ways to get things done. Has been published in large tech or mainstream media publications. These include TechCrunch, VentureBeat, The Next Web, Inc, Entrepreneur, Wall Street Journal and publications of that calibre. Has 20+ hours of availability per week. Has spent significant time in the Bay Area or in the tech industry. Strong portfolio of previous pieces that demonstrate your ability to write well. Is punctual with deadlines. Quantify, track and iterate on your writing to get results using research, analytical, and decision-making skills. Has a sharp eye for the right kind of stock photography that we like to use. Desirable Strong network of editors and publishers you can reach out to would be highly desirable Basic image editing skills. We pay $400 for blog posts and we expect them to be at least 1,000 words (we prefer longer). We also offer incentives and bonuses when one of your pieces performs well and gets a lot of social interaction.
