Horoscope Dates is a leading astrology website, and we are developing a new property that will be "buzzfeed meets astrology". We're looking for fun, exciting, uplifting articles with an astrological twist. Think Cosmopolitan. Things like "What lipstick to wear under an Aries Moon" or "How this Jupiter-Saturn-Trine can spice things up in the bedroom". To complement these "pop" style articles, it could also be important to have some articles with a more serious tone. Overall, the themes of love and relationships are most popular, but there is room for articles on a variety of topics. In addition to these articles, I am also looking for a daily horoscope writer. The current writer is retiring, and unfortunately I need to find a replacement. You'll have big shoes to fill with this one: she can write all 12 horoscopes (and a daily summary) in 25 minutes! I honestly don't think anyone will be able to match this outrageous pace, but ideally you would be able to finish this in an hour. To prepare for launch, I'm looking for ~20 articles and another 10 in the pipeline. If it goes well, the target would be 4-8 articles a day, so we will probably need to hire 8 or so writers. Content Strategy: Our readers are mostly female, and looking for guidance. They want to start their day with the horoscope, and be inspired. All articles should: - Be astrologically-accurate and contain actionable advice - Be friendly and approachable, written in plain english - Be similar in style to Buzzfeed or Cosmopolitan - Be, ideally, 500-100 words (flexible, I'm not sure how long the articles will actually have to be) Content Examples: There aren't actually any examples of this style of article, but you can see some of the daily horoscopes here: http://ift.tt/1OP0U9V Payments & Application: I'm thinking we would start at $20-50 per article for the trial, and if the project works we could increase the amount depending upon how much the audience likes your articles. For the daily horoscopes, it should take you an hour to do all 12. All shortlisted candidates will be hired (and paid) to write three trial articles, and if it goes well we will go from there! Scary legal stuff (this is pretty standard, but please only apply if you agree with the following): 1) The intellectual property and/or materials created by you in the course of this project is owned by us. 2) You will sign any document we reasonably require in the future (such as a deed of assignment) to record our ownership of the intellectual property and/or materials created in this project. 3) This obligation needs to continue during this project, as well as after it has ended. (It may be necessary, for example, for you to sign trademark application documents after the relationship comes to an end.) 4) You will keep this project confidential and will not disclose any of the intellectual property and/or materials produced. 5) You will not use the intellectual property and/or materials in any manner outside the project. I hope that wasn't too bad! Thank you for taking the time to read all this, we are looking forward to hearing from you.
