WHO WE ARE Seminal Media was started in 2015 by Michael Simmons, a serial entrepreneur and contributor to Forbes, Inc., Entrepreneur, Time, and HBR. Michael’s previous company, Empact, placed hundreds of the country’s top entrepreneurs in over 1,000 speaking engagements across the country including the White House and United Nations. Seminal works with the same network of world-class entrepreneurs to help them share their stories and lessons learned in top business publications, rather than through speaking engagements. Our content has been published on Time, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, Forbes, Inc., Harvard Business Review, and the Huffington Post. We invest dozens of hours per article to create blockbuster content such as The No. 1 Predictor Of Career Success According To Network Science and Why Successful People Spend 10 Hours a Week Just Thinking. What makes us different than other "big ideas" publications is that we: * Focus on developing original ideas. We don’t just take what our clients say and organize it. We collaborate with our clients to create new ideas by combining their expertise with academic research and case studies in order to make their ideas credible and compelling. * Optimize for quality over quantity. In a world with information overload, we believe that the best long-term strategy for virality and deep relationships is focusing on quality. We work iteratively with the client and reviewers to perfect the article before we publish it. * Think algorithmically. We are deeply curious and passionate about understanding how ideas develop, spread through, and impact society. Rather than solely depending on gut instinct, we break down writing into its core components and use creativity, data-driven decision making, and testing to improve each part of the process. This has led us to a unique process for creating content that consistently creates high-quality, viral content. POSITIONS & COMPENSATION We are currently a team of three people and a network of freelancers. We love Seminal because we get to learn from some of the world’s top entrepreneurs, build a system for creating content that results in thousands of shares per article, and create content that impacts millions of people’s lives. Depending on your background, we are looking to fill the following three positions: 1. Senior Big Ideas Writer (Full Time). This position is perfect for seasoned writers who are self-driven and looking for a stable and flexible position where they can focus on the high-level aspects of writing. The Senior Big Ideas Writer will focus on writing for our clients and for Seminal at first. However, the opportunity also exists to lead the process of building Seminal’s writing team as we grow. Depending on the level of experience, starting salaries range from $60,000–$80,000 including benefits. 2. Junior Big Ideas Writer (Full Time). We’re looking for talented writers who are just beginning their careers and interested in developing their skills rapidly, writing for top publications, and receiving heavy mentorship. Depending on the level of experience, starting salaries range from $30,000–$50,000 including benefits. 3. Freelancers. We work with freelance writers and editors. Depending on the level of experience, we pay $25–-$75 per hour. Depending on the freelancer’s skillset, we work together to create the first draft, polish the second draft, or both. We have a team of researchers, editors, content producers, admins, and proofreaders so you can focus on what you do best. LOCATION Virtual (Preferably in North America)
